Anyway onto the post, a couple of months ago I decided I was finally bored of my black hair which I have been doing for the last yearish. I started looking into ways to remove the colour out of my hair, and was kinda annoyed when I kept getting bits telling me black is major hard to get rid of. But no fear!! its actually a lot easier than you think!
After a lot of Google searching, I found out about this product,
Colour B4 Hair Colour Remover
So I had a look into a few reviews on it ( mainly here) and was pleased to find people saying it really worked.. even on black hair. Also warning by the looks of the reviews, if you have bleached your hair or used a red colour dye there is lots of people saying it turned there hair ginger. Not a bad thing but just a warning if your expecting a miracle. I was planning to dye my hair a light brown after anyway so it didn't worry me too much :) and my thoughts was if it turns out horrible I can just go back to black ( starts singing Amy Winehouse)
So firstly this was my hair before, this when it was really dark brown but still had black tips from when I first used the product. I think I didn't concentrate on the end of my hairs enough when doing the buffering process so it was my own fault.
Tip 1 - when using this product please be sure to follow the steps thoroughly
As you can see my hair was two colour's, a horrible muddy brown colour and then black at the tips. I really hated it and it was annoying me. As I said this was from the first attempt using the colour remover. I dyed my hair the lightest brown after I stripped the colour the first time and it ended like this....
So now onto the process.
1) Colour B4 - Hair colour remover ( Extra Strength)
2) Nice smelling shampoo ( I used wilko own brand 2 for £2)
3) Cling film
4)Comb
5) Hair Bands
6) A hair mask or deep conditioner ( I used Tresemme Restructuring Deep Conditioning Treatment)
So using the product is simple really. Apply the product to dry hair, making sure your cover evenly. I used the hair bands and the comb to achieve this. I tied up most of my hair apart from a thin bottom section, rubbed in the product to the hair, combed through, then got a bit more hair and repeated until the hair was covered. When hair was covered I noticed still had a small amount of product left so I rubbed this on my ends then applied some to the top of my head and combed through, just to make sure the hair was completely coated.
Note - It smells a bit like rotten eggs open your windows !!
When you are happy that you have covered hair, wrap hair in cling film. This will give you best results, as the product needs to keep warm and free from drafts. So make sure your in a warm room and wrap it up. You look a bit silly but hey! beauty is tough.
Leave for 60 mins.. I watched a film while waiting to help past the time and to try and forget the horrible smell.
Now listen up this is the important bit! Follow the buffering process perfectly!!!! I shall repeat follow the buffering process perfectly. Time yourself while doing the rinsing ( i used my phone). This is important as from reading about the product, the rinsing out is very important if you don't rinse the product fully your hair could go straight back to the colour you had it dyed. Don't forget your ends like I did the first time I used it !
Your hair will feel a bit like straw after, it does not feel like its in good condition. So I left mine to dry naturally.
I wouldn't recommend if you are planning to dye it after.. doing it the same day, as I think it would put your hair through hell.
My hair still smelt pretty bad after the drying and washing out the first time I done this. But when I did it this time it wasn't half as bad ( maybe I washed it out better). But still I recommend a very nice smelling shampoo the next day and a deep conditioner or hair mask. My hair felt nice after this.
The results... picture is pretty rubbish to be honest but you can kinda of see that my hair is much lighter and much more of an even colour.
I used Garnier Nutrisse Foam dark blonde 7
and here is a horrible picture of me, but you can see the results sort of.. I will post another one in my next post so you can see when the dye lightens up a bit.. as it does after a couple washes. The picture doesn't do it justice but its a lot more even now and a lovely colour.
Next post will be up by end of next week ! please follow.
